WHY CAN'T WE STAY FOCUS ON THE PRESENT

Ever wondered why whenever we are in a present we tend to go through all kind of thoughts except focusing on what's happening? Read here to answer this question

“SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE ARE NOT GIFTED; THEY JUST WORK HARD, THEN SUCCEED ON PURPOSE.”

Why is it so hard to stay focused in the present without thinking about something else or as I call it: pay a visit to the Lala land?

First of all our mind or as some would call consciousness is about a series of thoughts and images that flows in our mind so fast that we barely can grasp what we were thinking about and if we could we would just get a thought or two out of the hundred that already were flowing in our mind.  So we are always thinking about a lot of other things that are not the present and that is an involuntary move that we can’t control. We can just prevent our minds from wondering and thinking about a lot of things and keep us from the present moment. You are experiencing what I am talking about as you are reading this article and I am experience it while I am writing this post.

Which brings us to the second thing that prevent us from staying focused in the present. Do you know this one or two thoughts that we grasped out of the hundreds of thoughts that were in our mind? Most of these thoughts revolve about two things; either the past or the future.

The past is always better than the present because it is always edited version of the present. Think about the present, but cut out of the boredom and the mixed feelings you get throughout the day. The past is this, you cut the unwanted things out of the frame and only keep one thing. It is always clear, free of any errors. If we are talking about the good memory or sad one. That is why our mind always wonders toward the past. It is already known, it is already understood and already judged. You won’t worry about it anymore, unlike the present that is not any of those things.

The future on the other hand is our dreams, our hopes and our happiness or maybe the fears. After all the future is just a bunch of thoughts bundled together that won’t hurt us. There is no harm can come out of thinking about the future. Unlike the present that is scary and can make you go to places you never wanted to go.

Overall I think that uncertainty of the present is what drives our mind to wander and think about others than the present. If we are talking about the past, future or maybe just a small details that won’t add any value to your present or maybe thinking about what would happen in the upcoming season of prison break.

I would really love to know what you think of this post in the comments down below. Till next time, bye. .

  1. I think we just always want the next best thing- which like you said the future holds with excitement, a better life, more opportunities etc- it almost becomes a form of the American Dream! x

  3. I couldn't agree more, and now that I think of it, I definitely think way more about the past and future rather than the present x
