One important step to looking like a goddess for your prom is a good tan. There are those girls who rush for a spray tan a few days before the big night and end up looking orange. But, there is some good news, you can get self-tanning lotion for less of the price of a spray tan and look like a golden goddess for prom. Here are some tips to help you get it right.

1.    Make Sure You Have Plenty of Time
If you’ve chosen a dress from a premier signature line, there’s no doubt you will want a golden glow to go with it. But, for the perfect tan, you need patience and time. Self-tanning takes around 45 minutes, and cannot be rushed, so make sure you set aside time either on the day of prom or a day or two before.

2.    Remember to Exfoliate
Hop in the shower with your trusty loofah and scrub the dead skin away. It’s also a good idea to shave before doing a self-tan. Once you’re done, dry off and get ready for the process.

3.    Start with Easy Areas
Save the harder areas for last, like the face, knees, and elbows, and start with larger areas of the body like your arms and legs.

4.    Applying Self-Tan
Begin with the legs just below your knee. Put a drop of the tan on the front of your leg and use both hands to rub it in, in a circular motion. Keep working downwards until you reach the top of your ankle, and then repeat on the back of your leg. Repeat this technique for the rest of the easier areas of your body. If you want a goddess-worthy dress to go with your gorgeous tan, remember to shop online at Prom Dress Shop or similar trusted online stores for a beautiful dress.

5.    Tanning the Trouble Areas
The best way to get to those trouble areas is to use a small amount of tan in your hand, rub your hands together and apply to the trouble areas using circular motions. Make sure you keep your knees, elbows, and toes straight when applying lotion to ensure you get an even finish.
When you get to your face, make sure you use a mirror. Apply the lotion on your hands, rub them together, and apply to your face starting in the centre and working outwards, again using circular motions. Squeeze your lips together into a hard line before applying tan around your mouth.

6.    The Final Step
Finally, place a little tan on the backs of your hands and rub it in as if you were putting hand cream on. As soon as you have finished the process, rinse the palms of your hands to avoid them setting into a dark orange shade. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
Remember to wait around 20 minutes before getting dressed, and at least a few hours before having a shower.
It’s a great idea to do this the night before prom so that you wake up on that morning looking like a tanned goddess.
