SOCIAL PRESSURE

Living in a society that is like Egyptian society, might be the hardest thing to live up with. Since we were kids, we were being taught to be controlled by society. You learn to fear society more that you fear god. You can’t dress a certain way, not because god wants us to dress that way, but because people might eat you alive if you do. You can’t think that way, because it is simply not allowed in our society.

A lot of people think that Islam makes women closed minded and living in a prison, but the truth is, Islam is the only thing that can grant us our freedom. It is the society that put so much pressure on us that before you do anything, you think is it allowed are am I going to be shunned from this society for it.  We live in prison, a prison that is made by this society. I don’t have this freedom. Society would say”Be yourself” and then it would say “No, not like this”

The thing is, if we looked at the definition of freedom in any dictionary you would find that it means that you can do anything, unless it cause harm to you or someone else. A lot of decisions in my life won’t cause anyone harm, but it can’t be taken because society would ban it. If you asked them why, they would just say, tradition and cultural. There is no good reason that prevent me from living freely, other than society and the pressure that is caused by society.
